Handbuilt Vessels by Denise Phillips
Denise is rapidly becoming known throughout the world as one of Hawaii's premiere
primitive potters.
These exquisite ceramic works are not wheel thrown, but built entirely by hand.
They are burnished multiple times, then buried in tropical wood chips and set afire.
No glazes are used on the vessels. The rich colors and dreamy patterns
are burned into the pieces during the firing process.
Each vessel is unique, bearing its own beauty and personality
and like our own spirits, no two will ever be the same.
